Doug wrote in to share some wonderful memories and to wish his father, Steve, who currently lives at Oakmont Northville, a wonderful Father’s Day!
At Oakmont, Steve is likely known for being an ex U.S. Marine who fought and almost lost his life during the World War II Battle of Iwo Jima, a true American Hero. Of course for me he is all of that and much much more.
He is a wonderful father who always had time for myself and my brother Bruce. He taught us to love and play sports throughout our youth and into adult hood. We would play catch everyday for hours and he coached our baseball teams. When we went on to play sports in High School you would see him at our practices after he was done with work each day. I don’t think he ever missed one of our baseball,
