This year’s trip including all of the Oakmont communities was interesting with lunch and entertainment from the time we arrived until we boarded the bus to leave. It was a lot of work for the staff but a chance for a different kind of day for the residents. For those of us who grew up on the east side of Detroit, it was a trip down memory lane. Belle Isle had been in such disarray for many years but now is cleaned up and fixed up and the day was enjoyable being outside in nature. It was unfortunate that the aquarium was not yet opened.

We were all taken care of and I think most of us enjoyed it in our own way.

“Families considering to move their parents to Oakmont should definitely check it out. It’s very clean and a nice place with a lot of activities and a lot of friendly people. I always tell people it’s beautiful. Mom and dad say that they really enjoy the couple they eat with.”

“I like my independence. I feel like I can do what I want to. I don’t have to participate in activities if I don’t want to, but they are there for me if I choose to avail myself to them. As a matter of fact, I would tell a new resident activities are going on all day and if you would like to be a part of them do it!”

“A friend and I came for a tour of Oakmont Manor. Neither of us knew what to expect. I think we were in awe of what we learned about senior living. Walking to the parking lot I said, “Wow, I want to be a part of Oakmont Manor.” I came back a second time just to assure myself that this was the place for me. I have no regrets with my decision. The staff is professional but is also very friendly and helpful. I’ve met so many new friends. I look forward to each new day as an adventure.”

“When I first visited Oakmont Manor I was impressed with what I was told and shown. Still hesitant about moving in, but after being here for about 10 days I told my daughter I really love it here. The staff is wonderful! The best decision I made, I feel blessed.”

“Sometimes a family needs that extra special touch that only people who really care can give. We found that in each of you who helped. It lifted our burden and lightened our load. It provided a comfortable solution in a trying time. We do thank you so very much for all that you have done for our father.”

“It’s not easy to express with mere words how grateful my family and I are to everyone at Oakmont. The care, love and support given to our mother and our entire family throughout her final days was extraordinary beyond measure! We couldn’t have possibly asked for a more loving or peaceful environment for our mother to be in when she transitioned. We will forever be grateful and appreciative for all of you.”

Linda

“Words cannot express our heartfelt appreciation for the love and care you provided for our sister, Marge. Your love for her was evident from the very beginning. Caring people like all the staff at Oakmont will forever be in our prayers. Bless you all.”
