Oakmont’s Fantastic Fathers: James R. – Oakmont Sterling

For the days leading up to Father’s Day, we’ve asked our residents and families to share stories, pictures, and favorite memories of their dads, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers who live in our communities. We’ll be sharing them here on our website and on our social media channels in a series we’re calling: Oakmont’s Fantastic Fathers!

Dan wrote in to tell us all about his father, Jim, a resident of Oakmont Sterling, who was always home at 5 pm to have dinner with his family:

Dan wrote:

Dad worked very hard to support 5 children but he was home every day by 5 o’clock so that we could all sit down to have dinner together. That’s pretty rare today. He and Mom also loved to come out to out small farm and help us with whatever we were working on. On a rare occasion he would even go for a ride on one of the horses! We can’t wait to get him back out to the farm soon.

We love you Dad!

Sara and Jim Jr. wrote in to wish their Grandpa and Dad, Jim R. at Oakmont Sterling, a Happy Father’s Day!

Sara wrote:

Grandpa (Jim) always loved to play with us grandkids and was usually up to no good! As little kids, he loved to fool us so we would get close, and then he’d pounce by tickling us. Don’t be fooled, he hasn’t changed a bit years later!!

We love you Grandpa!

Jim Jr. wrote:

Dad was always there for me, whether it was hitting me pop-ups in the backyard or shooting hoops in the driveway, he always had time for us kids even after working all day.
Love You Dad!

Jim wrote in to tell us all about his Dad Bob P., a resident of Oakmont Parkway, who has been an incredible influence on the lives of his children and grandchildren.

Our dad, Bob P., is father to two sons and two daughters, grandfather to eight, and great grandfather to four. As his children, we are blessed for his guidance as a man of strong faith and commitment to family.

He has made us who we are today. He has a love for all sports, especially the Tigers and Red Wings (mostly when they are winning). He always makes us feel special on our birthdays as he never fails to call us and sing Happy Birthday.

Happy Father’s Day, Dad! We all love you.
