Thank You to Our Incredible Oakmont Staff!

It’s no secret that we are living through tough and uncertain times, but through it all, our staff members have been steadfast in doing whatever it takes to protect our seniors and keep our communities safe.

From our Executive and Assistant Directors to our managers and supervisors, activities staff, servers, maintenance technicians, and housekeeping crews, each member of our Oakmont Staff has gone above and beyond the call of duty to best every challenge, overcome every obstacle, and put our seniors first every single day.

We are so incredibly grateful for not only all the incredible work they’ve done but also how they’ve come together under uncertain circumstances to show off the best of what Oakmont Senior Communities is about. It is an honor to call them colleagues, coworkers, and friends.

Thank you to our cherished Oakmont Staff for all you do. You are truly heroes.

Thank You Henry Ford Health System!

Oakmont Senior Communities would like to extend a grateful THANK YOU to Henry Ford Hospital and the Henry Ford Health System for their generous support of our Oakmont Communities during this time. It’s wonderful community organizations like Henry Ford and the many fantastic doctors, nurses, administrators, and more that make Southeastern Michigan a great place to live and work. We are so grateful for their support!

THANK YOU!

COVID-19 Update: Increased Lockdown Starting Monday, March 30th

To Our Residents and Families:

Over the next two or three weeks, health experts are predicting that the COVID-19 outbreak in Michigan will hit its apex with hundreds of new cases emerging every day. Following the lead of many leading senior organizations and the best practices recommended by local health departments and the CDC, Oakmont is placing all of our communities under increased lockdown to best protect our residents and staff.

Starting Monday, our staff will begin delivering all meals directly to each apartment and we are asking residents to quarantine and practice the CDC’s personal safety protocols we previously distributed. We also are postponing all group activities and our Activities Department will assist in helping our housekeeping and dietary staff. Also starting early this week, all Oakmont staff will begin wearing safety glasses as an additional preventative measure to help protect against the virus’ spread.

As this is an evolving situation, we will continue to keep all residents and family members updated as more information becomes available. We are committed to doing everything we can to keep our community safe for all and we are grateful for the help and well-wishes from our extended Oakmont family.

Thank you,

Executive Order 2020-21 – Oakmont Communities Will Remain Staffed and Operational

March 23rd, 2020

To Our Residents and Families:

Earlier this morning, Michigan’s Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued Executive Order 2020-21 “Stay Home, Stay Safe” to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. This order has closed all non-essential businesses and forced much of the state’s workforce to stay home.

Because Oakmont employees have the unique privilege of serving seniors each and every day, we are considered exempt from this order. We want to assure you that business will continue as usual and our communities will remain in full operation while locked down.

Should any additional questions arise in the coming days, please reach out to your Executive Director for clarification.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time. The safety and security of our seniors remain our top priority.

Thank you,

Oakmont Senior Communities

Oakmont Sterling – Video Chat With Your Loved One!

To Our Residents and Families of Oakmont Sterling:

Though we know that this is a trying time for all of us, our activities department is working hard to find unique ways to connect families, enrich lives, and keep our community engaged. That’s why we’re excited to announce that we will begin scheduling weekly Skype video chats until the temporary preventative lockdown has been lifted.

Beginning this week, families and friends can sign up for private video chats with loved ones inside of our community Monday through Friday via the Skype platform. To sign up for a chat, simply send me an email and be sure to include the following information:

  • Your Name
  • Your Skype Username
  • Resident Name
  • Timeslot and date you desire to Skype

I will be sending out a schedule each week to confirm appointments.

If you’re not a current Skype user, signing up for an account is both easy and free. Simply go to Skype.com or your app store; download the app on your computer, smartphone, or tablet; and create a free account. If you have any additional questions about how to sign-up for Skype or would like to set up a chat using Facetime on your Apple device, please don’t hesitate to email me directly.

As we band together to keep our loved ones safe, our activities department looks forward to helping families stay connected and sharing smiles and stories.
